Mr. Ignatius John Profile

Ignatius John has over Twenty Eight years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Graduated from the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology at Madras (India) in the year 1984 with honours - a gold medallist for the year 1984.

Got his initial exposure to hotel management with The Ashok Group of Hotels (India Tourism Development Corporation) as a Junior Executive Trainee. Was with the organisation for over seven years and held many positions in their prestigious properties at Hotel Ashok - New Delhi, Hotel Ashok - Bangalore and Hotel Ashok - Kovalam. During this tenure at various times held various positions as Restaurant Manager, Banquet Manager and Flight Catering Operations Manager.

In 1991, joined the Guestline Hospitality Management and Development Services Limited, as Food and Beverage Manager. Was responsible for the setting up of the department in their first property at Attibelle, Bangalore. Later was involved with the opening of their second property at Tirupathi and also managing the property as Executive Manager. Was also involved in setting up of systems at their third property in Hyderabad.

Joined Sterling Holiday Resorts in 1994 as Resort Manager. Was responsible for the ongoing project development as well as opening up the resort in a phased manner for operations. This resort at Ooty today is the largest resort in South India, spread on seven acres of land with a bed capacity of 600 (165 apartments / cottages and 40 standard rooms). Was also the founder member and office bearer of Nilgiris Hotel and Restaurant Association.

Since March 1996, was involved in the various consulting activities of C&C Associates, a hospitality development and management consultancy firm, as a Senior Associate. Consulted independently since 2004 as IJ Associates. .Since 2011- has set up a Hospitality Consulting firm – Peacock Group with two other partners.

Conceptulaised and formed Karpagam Caterers Private Limited Company – an institutional catering company in 1997. Was the Managing Director of the company till 2000 when the operations were stopped.

Conceptualised and started Real Value Foods – An institutional Bakery & Confectionery unit in 2000 with a partner, and still continues to an important partner in this firm.

Ignatius John is in constant touch with the developments in timeshare industry in India and has attended the Timeshare University conducted by R C I.

Ignatius John was also admitted as an Associate member of HCIMA in 1997.

Conceived and started Karpagam Caterers Private Limited, a professional institutional food service company. The company achieved a turnover of Rs. 4.5 million for the financial year 1998-99.

Had been posted at the Fernhill Resort from the time it had been under project stage. In January ’94 there were 15 apartments ready and the Resort as such was not operational.
